Since we first founded the greenhouse (in 2018 we will be celebrating our 20th year in the business) we have been in growing constantly, and from MondoRose – old roses and collector roses we have become MondoRose and Flowers. What remains is a profound interest in Roses – which is expressed in the renewal and enrichment of our already vast selection – and the additional, somewhat generic, term Flowers, under which we mean to present a wide range of plants that go from perennial grasses to aromatic herbs, to Mediterranean shrubs and spontaneous species.
The two sectors compensate one another, integrate and enrich one another. Just imagine a border made up of just roses: what a sight, what a fragrance in May and October when the plant reflowers copiously. Try to imagine the same border with daffodils gently swaying at the foot of the rose shrub in March, violet anemones blossoming there in April, and verbena bonariensis and perovskia slipping through the branches and flowering in summer, just when the rose blossoms are starting to wane because of the heat. And try to imagine, finally, lavender swathing the lower parts of the shrub..
The same border, but how much richer and more versatile and more variable and more balanced the second one is in every moment of every season! And how ecological too!
Yes, because by placing different species together we help maintain a biodiversity that is useful to the environment as a whole.
